Now that school is out and that summer reading thing is starting again, I know there will be more and more people coming into my library every day. My staff has been getting ready for more visitors for a while. After they took away the leftovers from the big book sale there was an empty table right close to the water fountain. It was almost close enough so I could have jumped up for a drink--but someone else would have had to press the big button that makes the water go, I guess. Anyway, my staff found a mug for me--sort of like the one I have in the workroom--so that if I stay close to the water fountain and look thirsty, any one of my fans can fill up my cup and save me the trouble of jumping up and getting my paws wet. The chance for a drink is nice, but I also need to make sure there are quiet places to go when things get a little too hectic (besides the usual places, of course). So Ii tried some of the chairs my staff uses and some of the chairs that the people who read my newspapers sit in when I let them. but some of the best places I found are in that director's office. First there's her chair, or course. When it's pushed back under her desk, only I can sit in it and nobody can see me! It know it would be a big surprise for that director if she sits down without looking first, but that's her problem. And there's a little dark corner under her computer table. I tried that spot last week and it took a while before my staff found me. I don't think that director minds when I visit, as long as I keep out of the sand thing on her desk. And she's finally learned to read a newspaper even when I'm sitting on it. She took a while to train, though. Now if I could only train her to keep something soft on the extra chair she has, maybe I'd spend more time with her. Or maybe not. It certainly wouldn't be a public spot like my napping box is, though. At least when I'm there, my fans have a chance to say hello. I think I'll give them a chance now. They'll have to speak softly, though. because I'll probably be napping. Love, Whispurr
